PULNiX:
The Progressive Scan Leader
As
an early leader in the development and manufacture of progressive
scan CCD cameras, PULNiX offers both advanced technology and proven
experience. Quality also has been essential to our success in
offering you the best in progressive scan cameras.
Flexibility,
ruggedness, compact size, and ease of use are why PULNiX progressive
scan cameras are known for superb functionality in a wide range
of applications. Many feature-rich models are available, in both
monochrome and color. With a variety of additional options from
which to select, PULNiX progressive scan cameras are particularly
versatile. Following is a brief introduction to our progressive
scan camera line and its features.
Interline
Transfer
PULNiX
progressive scan CCD imagers use interline transfer type progressive
scan imagers instead of the full-frame transfer CCDs found in
most other progressive scan cameras. Interline transfer eliminates
the ghosting or streaking that can appear with frame transfer
type progressive scan cameras during dynamic imaging. This is
because the interline transfer CCD architecture stores the charges
at the pixel site as opposed to a separate area.
High
Resolution
PULNiX
offers progressive scanning capability at the highest resolutions
available. With more than one million pixels at 30 fps. or 15
fps, incredibly detailed images can be captured in the most demanding
applications. The first available on the market, PULNiX also offers
a high resolution color progressive scan camera.
Asynchronous
Shuttering
Ultra-sharp
imaging is accomplished without compromising speed. Capture periods
of 1/16,000 sec. or even shorter are achieved with full-frame
electronic shuttering, using an asynchronous (random command)
signal. Essential to successful dynamic image capture, asynchronous
shuttering allows the camera to reset the internal sync upon external
command to re-start a scan.
Analog/Digital
Output
PULNiX
recognizes that users may wish to have an analog output which
can be connected directly to a viewing monitor for convenience.
Thus most models of the PULNiX progressive scan cameras contain
an internal A/D converter and frame memory. This permits immediate
digitization of the image to minimize noise potential, and holds
the image in storage until commanded to output the information
to the image processor. PULNiX also offers special multi-sync
viewing monitors for viewing images in non-TV format.
Integration
Integration
refers to the length of time in which the pixels are accumulating
charge. Integration for an exposure time longer than one frame
provides extra sensitivity for dark environment applications.
All PULNiX progressive scan cameras permit integration as either
a standard or optional feature.
Universal
Frame Grabber Capability
Digital
PULNiX progressive scan cameras feature a built-in frame store
which holds the captured image for readout to a frame grabber
or host processor. This allows the cameras to interface with a
wide range of frame grabbers, while assuring that the captured
images are transferred successfully. PULNiX progressive scan cameras
have been tested for "plug and play" compatibility with
most of the popular image capture boards on the market. Special
camera-to-frame grabber cables are available from either PULNiX
or the frame grabber manufacturers.
