The Swedish history of telecommunications is both unique and successful. Sweden played early an important role in the area of telecommunications. The Swedish optical telegraph was invented 1794 only a few months after the French semaphore which was the first optical telegraph in the world.
Since then Sweden has had a prominent position both in telegraphy, telephony and radio. Today Ericsson is a world leading company in several telecom areas and Telia AB has a strong position both national and international when it comes to telecom services. |
