Subject: ICOM IC-W32A Crossband Repeater Function

I've owned my ICOM W-32A for quite some time now and have thoroughly
enjoyed it! For those folks who don't care to have their gear modified
or are leery about warranty invalidation, here is a great way to enjoy
your radio. No, you don't have to 'open' your radio up or even let it
see a screwdriver.

Apparently ICOM 'forgot' to tell us about the W-32's unique feature as
that of a crossband repeater. This is not mentioned at all in their
manual!

It's very easy to engage and disengage the crossband repeat feature.
Here's how to do it:

1) Set both frequencies on both sides (i.e. UHF/VHF, VHF/UHF and yes,
even PL Tones!).

2) Press and hold the Call/Lock button until the 'key' appears in the
display.

3) Turn off the radio.

4) Press and hold the Main, Band, and Squelch buttons while turning the
rig back on. The 'key' will flash in the display. Ta Daa! You have a
portable crossband repeater in your hands! Have fun and enjoy!

5) To Turn off the Feature, hold the Call/Lock button until the 'key'
disappears in the display.

There you are! A very simple and FREE way to enjoy yet another feature
from this great little radio!
