Resizing Your Artwork

If you followed the method from my PCB Designer page, your finished artwork will look as though you are seeing it from the component side of the PCB and any text should be reversed.

IMPORTANT... In order to have the correct component pin spacing we have to reduce the size of the image.

In my case I use an Epson printer and have set the Reduce/Enlarge option to 'Custom' and in the 'Scale to' box I've entered a number of 39%. This will return the correct one-tenth inch spacing for the final design. Every printer software is different but 39% is the scale factor we need for the correct reduction. Also, you're looking for the best quality print that your printer will allow. The design needs to be flaw-free before it's transfered to the copper board so experiment for the best output.

Remember - whichever printer you're using, you must remember to reduce the scale to 39%. The pictorial above should give you some idea of what we're aiming for.
