The ADC1000 is a high-speed ISA-bus A/D converter that creates a spectrometer interface to desktop PCs. The 12-bit, 8-channel, single-ended A/D converter can acquire spectral data from multiple channels simultaneously. The ADC1000 features 1 MHz sampling frequency and is designed for use with our S2000 Miniature Fiber Optic Spectrometer.

The ADC1000 is available for only $599.

The ADC1000 is a half-length converter that fits into a slot in a desktop PC and couples to any S2000 Spectrometer via an interface cable that comes with the spectrometer. The 37-pin end of this interface cable connects to the A/D converter, and the 25-pin end connects to the spectrometer.

The integration time of Ocean Optics spectrometers is a function of the sampling frequency of the A/D converter. With the ADC1000 --the "1000" refers to 1000 kHz, or 1 MHz sampling frequency -- the shortest S2000 Spectrometer integration time possible is 3 milliseconds, well within the parameters required for most applications. (At the opposite extreme, the longest possible integration time is 60 seconds.)

The ADC1000's channel rotator permits acquisition of pixels from alternating channels. For example, acquisition with an ST2000 triple-channel spectrometer can be configured so that Pixel #0 is acquired from the master channel, Pixel #1 is acquired from the first slave channel, and Pixel #2 from the second slave channel. As the sequence repeats, Pixel #3 is acquired from the master channel, and so on. As a result, spectra are acquired from multiple spectrometer channels simultaneously, making the ADC1000 ideal for applications involving pulsed light sources and transient spectral events.

In addition, the data acquired when using the multi-channel scanning capability of the ADC1000 is automatically de-interlaced (i.e., separated into individual spectra for each channel) by any Ocean Optics software product.

ADC1000-USB, ADC2000-PCI Offer More Interface Options
Also available is the ADC1000-USB, an external A/D converter with 1 MHz sampling frequency that connects to the spectrometer via a DB25-pin connector and to desktop or notebook PCs via the USB port. The ADC1000-USB may also be connected via serial port to devices supporting the RS-232 communications protocol. The ADC1000-USB is available for only $599.

For PCI-bus connection, the ADC2000-PCI converter is a 12-bit, 8-channel single-ended, half-length card that fits into a slot in a desktop PC. The card, with 1 MHz sampling frequency, can acquire spectral data simultaneously from up to 8 spectrometer channels. The ADC2000-PCI is also available for only $599.
