Subject: preamp tubes

I tried a Gold Arrow Platinum 6DJ8 tube in my MFA
Magus preamp. Bass was better than with the original
MFA-supplied tube, but the sound was glassier. I
replaced the 12AX7A's and 12AT7 at the same time
with new MFA-supplied tubes. One or more tubes in
the new set failed after only 4 months or so. (I
haven't tested (yet) to check which. I leave my
preamp on most of the time.) My dealer has suggested
that I try a Golden Dragon 6DJ8 as part of a full
or partial retubing.

Can anyone relate experiences with the Golden Dragon
6DJ8, especially in the MFA Magus, or experiences
with other Golden Dragon tubes? Can anyone suggest
reasons why my last tube set failed so soon?
