------------------------------ From: rsanders@alb.asctmd.com Subject: Zalytron speakers & kits Date: Tue, 27 Sep 1994 04:42:41 Zalytron just sent me a new 1995 catalog. For those that do it yourself or know enough about your tastes, they are a good source for drivers --- Seas, Focal, Morel, Cabasse, Vieta, Polydax, Accuton, and their own, and speaker kits --- both with and without cabinets. The kits start at just under $200, but the really good stuff comes in around $500 to $2500. These feature some execellent woodwork with attention to diffraction and some cabinet fronts that list as 2" thick. A lot of the crossovers and kits have been designed by Joe D'Appolito and a new series featuring Polydax drivers by Vance Dickason. As an example the Aria 5 with a Focal Ti series tweeter lists for $439, with the Accuton tweeter for $649. Cabinets run around $550 per pair. Subwoofer cabinets start at $125 ea. and go up. They have Silent Shield which are cups that go over the backs of drivers so you can put them close to a TV or monitor. Made to fit Focal drivers, but may fit others. They also carry SCR and Aeon polyproplyene caps, Aeon wire, rca plugs, speaker spades, Black Hole dampening pads, and car systems. Their minimum order is $50. Those in New York can stop by and listen to the speakers. And as always, ask for Elliot! Zalytron Industries Corp. 469 Jericho Turnpike Mineola, NY 11501 (516) 747-3515 Voice (516) 294-1943 FAX Finally why buy kits from an unknown? Simple, the componets are usually of the same or higher quality and your cost for a kit is equivlant to a fully assembled brand name speaker approx. 2 to 3 times the kit cost. Hey, they made a couple of cabinets for me and I bought a replacement T90ti. No other association... Bob
