The following programs are free.Download the file and UNZIP it into it's own directory. Read their installation-instruction files and you won't have any problems. Once properly installed it's a simple matter of opening the executable (filename.exe) to run the program.
If you have any problems with these applications please contact the program's author.
If you have any tips or tricks or new applications please send me an update. Application suggestions may be included in the following. (Tips or tricks will be archived for a possible new page.)
Elect87.zip (60kb DOS ) Electrical and electronic-formula calculator (I).
Formula1.zip (78kb DOS ) Electrical and electronic-formula calculator (II).
Formula2.zip (64kb DOS ) Electrical and electronic-formula calculator (III).
(Each of the above three offers different and useful options.)
Inductor formula ( 33K DOS ) A simple small program to calculate your small coil winding. .
555 Timer.zip (87kb ) This is a nice little program with full running graphics that allows you to select the frequency. Make sure to also downoad the appropriate" DLL .zip" file for your system . Unzip the files and follow the instructions included in the "Readme .txt " files.
Signal Generator.zip (117kb ) A little program with controls displayed on your screen with sound availble from your sound card output.
Scope.zip (89kb ) An actual oscilloscope that uses your sound card as an input source.
Resistor Colour Code Decoder ( ccode.zip 21kb ) A nice little program which decodes resistance colour values . The program needs Visual Basic-6 runtime ( vb6rt.exe. 1.25mb ) to run , if you do not have it already in your "windows/system" directory listed as "vb6stkit.dll" , don't forget to download it at the sale time .
Scope3.exe (167kb ) Another oscilloscope. Uses the sound card, but with more options and a broader frequency range capability.
WinDraft (Win95/98 ) If your needs are only to draw, save and print your electronic circuits this program is for you. I use it for all the schematic drawings you see on the site. The demo is limited to 100 pins but this has proven to be enough for some of the simple purposes I've shown -- just don't use the existing parts libraries. After you've found your way around the application, simply open a new parts library and using the "Symbols" drawing function and create your own set. Save them in in a new library. Later you'll be able to load them as required for new designs.
PCB Designer (Win95/98 ) A freeware PCB layout program that you can download . It is very good and quite adequate for the hobbyist . You can also after completion of your design obtain an estimate of your PC board to be produced by Engineering Express via the internet.
