PSpiceŽ Advanced Analysis is a new product featuring technology adapted from Cadence Analog Workbench. As an add-on option to PSpice or PSpice A/D, new Advanced Analysis provides a unified environment for taking designs further - improving time-to-market, performance, and quality of design while keeping your costs in check. It adds a powerful set of measurement-based tools for optimal performance and reliability.
Optimizer automates the iterative process of re-running simulations and fine tuning your design.
Sensitivity Analysis shows graphically how much a change in a design parameter affects your measurements.
Monte Carlo/Yield explores the parameter space bounded by component tolerances and estimates the expected yield.
Smoke/Analysis determines whether components are operating within their safe operating limits.

Measurements: Quick Access to Numeric Characteristics
Get quick feedback after analyses with the new Measurement Results table below the plot in PSpice. Apply measurements (formerly Goal Functions) to simulation results data to evaluate characteristics such as center frequency, bandwidth, risetime, and overshoot. These measurements will be displayed in the table, and updated after each analysis. For multi-run analyses, measurements will be shown for each section of data. Choose from the many standard measurements included with PSpice, or use them as examples to create your own custom measurements.
Enhanced Models
Enjoy more flexibility in modeling switches and creating custom macro-models with the enhanced PSpice voltage- and current-controlled switches. Choose either the short-transition with hysteresis or the "smooth" transition. Also, easily model your magnetic cores with the new empirical model in which the parameters correspond to standard characteristic data and accurately models temperature effects and frequency-dependent "loop-widening."
Export Probe Data for Selected Traces
Reduce data file sizes and save time by exporting the desired trace data to a separate data file. After the final debug simulation verifies design performance, extract and save only the necessary data, rather than re-simulating with data collection restrictions. Further compress the exported traces when they change slowly or infrequently by enabling "Data Compression" and specifying acceptable tolerances.
New Model Libraries
New model libraries have been added for power MOSFET models from NEC and diode libraries from Shindengen.
Version 14.0/PSpice v9.2.1
-
Hierarchical Netlists with Parameterized Subcircuits
Save time by using the hierarchical netlister for large
complex hierarchical designs with components that are re-used
extensively. Hierarchical netlists are also more compact
and 'readable' they can be read more quickly by PSpice,
and more easily by users who need to work directly with
the netlist.
-
Power and Subcircuit Pin Current Measurements
View quiescent power consumption on the schematic, along
with bias voltages and currents. Reduce the data file size
by selecting independent restrictions on each measurement
type: voltages, currents, power consumption, etc. Use the
new measurements to choose parts with appropriate ratings
to improve reliability without the added cost of over-specifying.
Transient Analysis Enhancements
Enter a value in the "Run for" box to interactively extend
the transient simulation time. Monitor the progress of a
transient analysis and, if necessary, extend beyond its
original end time without restarting.
-
Pre-emptive Simulations
Temporarily interrupt a long simulation to immediately run
another one. Run a brief simulation in the foreground while
longer ones wait in the background. The new Simulation Manager,
which appears as an icon in the Windows taskbar, provides
pertinent details about simulations you have chosen to run,
and lets you control them or arrange the order in which
they will be simulated.
Plot Window Templates
Make complex measurements just by placing special markers
on the appropriate nets, pins, or parts in the schematic.
Define your own measurements and plots, or choose from standard
ones delivered with PSpice; e.g. Bode, Bandwidth, Group
Delay, Nyquist, Log-Linear, etc.
Updated Intrinsic EKV MOSFET Model and Expanded Magnetic
Model Library
Use the latest version of the EKV model, version 2.6, rev.
12. This update improves the model's robustness and its
temperature dependence. Also, the PSpice model libraries
have been expanded to include over 2000 new models, including
more than 1000 new magnetic core models.
-
Capture Enhancements
Select or change the active simulation profile with the new pull-down list in the toolbar, and the associated test-bench, or root schematic, will automatically be made the current root.
-
Integration with Concept
Use Concept HDL Expert as an alternative schematic editor for PSpice or PSpice A/D. The Concept-PSpice libraries provide immediate access to thousands of PSpice A/D models, and component toolbars in Concept HDL make it easy to place those components in the schematic.
