-
Save the file in a temporary directory
and run it. The archive gets decompressed.
-
Using Explorer or the MS-DOS prompt, you see
a lot of subdirectories under the path of the temporary directory.
At first install the Online Help,
because it contains all information for subsequent hardware installation:
-
For the german version of the Online help,
run "<Your temporary directory>\HILFE\SETUP.EXE".
-
For the english version of the Online Help,
run "<Your temporary directory>\HELP\SETUP.EXE".
-
After the Online help installation,
open it and look for the installation of your specific card and the matching
operating system. In general, the archive is organized in this way: "<operating
system>\<card type>". Consult the Online help because the way of
the installation depends on operating system and card type.
-
Run your card and OS-specific Setup program
from "<Your temporary directory>\<operating system>\<card type>\SETUP.EXE".
For Linux drivers, see the Linux
page.

HP I/O libaries
About the VISA interface provided by the HP
I/O libraries
The VISA interface works independent of a
special manufacturer as a connection between a GPIB card and an application.
The VISA interface provides a standardized function layer, not only for
GPIB, but also for VXI and serial devices that is supported by all manufactures
in the same way.
By choosing the "GPIB" functions you always
bind yourself to a special manufacturer. The same application written with
VISA functions, cards from different manufacturers can be used. Furthermore,
changing to other programming languages or applications becomes easier
because the function interface is retained.
Upon this reason, we recommend the use
of the VISA functions, if they are supported by the application you want
to use. These are LabView, LabWindows, HP VEE and HT Basic, only to name
a few. Samples for VISA functions are attached to many of these applications.
Checked versions of the HP I/O libaries
(VISA/SICL interface) are available in a
-
16 bit version B.03.13 for Microsoft®
Windows® 3.1 operating system
-
32 bit version H.01.02 for Microsoft®
Windows® 95, Windows® 98 and Windows NT® operating systems.
Should work for Windows® 2000 too.
Download directly at Agilent's
website.
Installation instructions
The use of VISA functions requires the proper
installation of the 'HP-I/O Libraries' from Agilent including VISA - and
SICL-interface.
Install the components in the following
order:
-
First install the application, i.e. LabView.
-
Second install the HP I/O Libararies. If LabVIEW
is used, this procedure is also needed to replace the VISA-interface of
National Instruments with the HP VISA interface.
-
At last install the ines software and select
the HP SICL interface during the installation.

Drivers
For Linux drivers, see the Linux
page.
Driver updates via download are possible
for driver/disk versions 2.3 and higher. Users of older versions are encouraged
to contact ines for an upgrade. Please include
the card type, the serial number and the current version
in use in your request.
For installing and using the drivers, a
16 digit number called 'Unlock Code' is required for unlocking the driver.
There are three ways for obtaining this number:
-
The Unlock Code is put on disk1 in file 'unlock.txt'
of the disk set you received with the card. After downloading and decompressing
the drivers, copy this file to the directory of disk1 of the decompressed
drivers. Using this method, you will not be asked for entering the number,
installation proceeds automatically by detecting the presence of this file.
-
The Unlock Code is put on disk1 in file 'unlock.txt'
of the disk set you received with the card. Open the file with notepad
or any other text editor and write down the number including the dashes.
During installation, you will be asked for an unlock code. Enter the written
down number.
-
Contact ines for
an Unlock Code. Please include the card type, the serial number
and the current version in use in your request.

Driver V2.7 for Data Acquisition Cards (3590135 Byte) for Windows®
95/98, Windows NT®, Windows® 2000 operating systems. Suits all
ines data acquisition cards. Not usable for GPIB cards!
After download
Save the file in a temporary directory and
start it. The archive becomes decompressed. Now you find the files of the
installation disks in separate directories (disk1, disk2, disk3, disk4).
With "Setup.exe" in directory disk1 you can start the installation. During
the installation, you may be asked for an Unlock Code. Enter the 16 digit
number. Installation will continue. Depending on the operating system,
you may need to reboot the computer. Follow the instructions of the Setup
program.
Please note
An existing Unlock Code is valid only for
the support of the operating system that the existing driver on disk
supports. For example, if you have a driver version 2.3 for Windows®
95/98, then a newer version will only install using Windows® 95/98,
but not Windows NT®, Windows® 2000 operating systems!
