The Calibrated Dipole antenna is an instrumentation-grade antenna designed to provide accurate field strength measurements with either a spectrum analyzer or CATV-type signal meter.  Telescoping elements allow precise tuning.  The internal broadband balun maintains element balance while providing 1:1 energy transfer to coaxial cable. The rear mounting bracket accommodates ¾" to 1-1/4" diameter masts, or larger with optional clamp. A  field measurement guide explains the techniques used by experts and details standard procedures used to obtain volts-per-meter, or millivolts-per-meter from instrument indications. Procedures used to minimize multipath errors common in FM-VHF signal strength measurements are included. Frequency - length charts and calibration data are included, both for handheld and vehicular use.  In addition to measuring signal strengths for coverage study, this antenna facilitates FM broadcast testing in accordance with 73.317 - equipment performance measurements.  These tests include occupied bandwidth, harmonic suppression, and spurious emission, required after installation of a new transmitter, exciter, stereo generator, or subcarrier generator. Narrowband, power-density data, calibrated in milliwatts per square centimeter, can also be measured.
