The Basics of MRI
Chapter 14
Clinical Images
Previous chapters in The Basics of MRI have focussed primarily on MRI physics. This chapter deviates from this trend by providing examples of the capabilities of MRI. A series of clinical magnetic resonance images are presented that give the reader an idea of what is visible in routine clinical magnetic resonance images. It is not the intent of this chapter to teach human anatomy, however, the images do provide good anatomical detail. The reader interested in names and descriptions of the imaged anatomy is directed to a cross sectional human anatomy text.
All images presented in this chapter were taken from actual exams recorded on a 1.5 Tesla, GE (Milwaukee, WI) Signa magnetic resonance imager. Specific acquisition parameters are listed with each image, when available.
