Light Attenuation

Light travelling in transparent materials [light guides, scintillation counters] is attenuated according to an exponential law ( Attenuation):

Obviously,

Due to the wavelength dependence of the shape of the spectrum changes in the course of transmission. The attenuation length in scintillators can be considerably increased by the use of wavelength shifters.
