The Anarchist FAQ

Hopefully this FAQ will answer your
questions and provide help for the construction, operation and troubleshooting of The
Anarchist transmitter. This FAQ is and will be a work in progress. Should you have

The Parts List for the Shortwave Transmitter:
- R1 - 33k, 1/2 watt, carbon
- R2 - 4.7k, 1/2 watt, carbon
- R3, R6 - 100, 1/2 watt, carbon
- R4 - 10, 1/2 watt, carbon
- R5 - 100, 1 watt, carbon
- C1, C2 - 10 to 100 pF trimmer
- C3 - 220 pF, disk ceramic, 50V
- C4, C5, C7 - .1 uF, disk ceramic, 50V
- C6 - .01 uF, disk ceramic, 50V
- C8 - 3300 uF, electrolytic, 25V
- C9 - .1 uF, disk ceramic, 250V
- C10 - Any high voltage variable capacitor having the range of
400-700 pF. Suggested types are Arco TC-4610 (260-900 pF) and Arco TC-310M
- X1 - Fundamental mode crystal. Usable range can be between 5
and 11 MHz
- T1 - Amidon T50-2 toroid. Primary is 26 turns of #28 wire
closewound. Secondary is 2 turns of #28 wire wound OVER the primary windings.
- L1 - 2.5 uH or greater, 4A rating. Suggested Radio Shack

- L2 - 13 mH or greater, .5 Ohm or less DC resistance. Suggested
Radio Shack 270-030A or JW Miller 7123 or JW Miller 7122.
One could also use the 8-16 Ohm secondary of an audio transformer, in a pinch.
- L3 - .7 uH, 7 turns of #16 wire on a 5/8" form.
- L4 - 1.4 uH, 11 turns of #16 wire on a 5/8" form.
- L5 - .8 uH
- Q1 - 2N2222
- Q2 - 2N2907
- Q3 - IRF-510 (Radio Shack 276-2072A) or IRF-511
The Parts List for the Mediumwave Transmitter:
- R1 - 33k, 1/2 watt, carbon
- R2 - 4.7k, 1/2 watt, carbon
- R3, R6 - 100, 1/2 watt, carbon
- R4 - 33, 1/2 watt, carbon
- R5 - 100, 1 watt, carbon
- C1 - 220 pF, disk ceramic, 50V
- C2 - .001 uF, disk ceramic, 50V
- C3 - 10 to 100 pF trimmer
- C4, C5 - .1 uF, disk ceramic, 50V
- C6 - 3300 uF, electrolytic, 25V
- C7 - .47 uF, disk ceramic, 250V
- C8 - Any high voltage variable capacitor having at least 4400
pF of capacitance. Suggested type would be Arco 315 with an additional 2000 pF disk
ceramic 250V capacitor in parallel.
- X1 - Fundamental mode crystal. Suggested range would be
1700-1790 kHz. Unclear as to how low one can go with this current design.
- T1 - Amidon T50-2 toroid. Primary is 69 turns of #28 wire
closewound. Secondary is 3 turns of #28 wire wound OVER the primary windings.
- L1 - 2.5 uH or greater, 4A rating. Suggested Radio Shack

- L2 - 13 mH or greater, .5 Ohm or less DC resistance. Suggested
Radio Shack 270-030A or JW Miller 7123 or JW Miller 7122.

- L3 - 10 turns of #16 wire on a 1.25" form.
- L4 - 14 turns of #16 wire on a 1.25" form.

Voice (714) 850-4660 or Fax (714) 850-1163. Last year's catalogue lists the FT-50A-75 at
0.85 each. FT-50B-75 was unavailable at that time. The mu rating of the 77 material is
similar though. If you want to go that route the FT-50B-77 are 0.95 each. I've been
dealing with Amidon for years and I highly recommend them.
