Another Crystal Radio Project
- CONSTRUCTION :
- this radio is a little more complacited then the
crystal set. we wrap a multi layred coil. making shure all windings are wound in the same direction.
- first we can wrap the primary windings this will be the antenna windings. we do not want to secure them to the former. this winding should slide to and from the secondary windings. this will adjust the slectivity of the set. wind 30 or so wraps for the primary winding. or try inserting the primary inside the secondary windings or wrap on another former and put it in front of the secondary/detector windings and move it around a little.
- next we will wrap the secondary. it will be between 80 to 100 wraps to hit the bc band. or you can try adjusting to the sw band? you will use the same tecnique for wraping but you will secure this one to the former. and you will notice there is no taps in this set.
- then you should insulate the secondary from the detector winding with tough paper or electrial tape or whatever to keep the windings from shorting out. wrap the detector winding 30 or so wraps will do making shure that you do not reverse the windings always wrap in the same direction.
- it can be assembled on a peice of wood, parts layouts are never crucial. the antenna should be as long as possable and series tune the antenna.
