G Wells: The unconstructables: Headsets and Valves.
Now the things we couldn't provide, couldn't do. We had
to make coils; they were largely trial and error, one could calculate the
inductance of these if one had access to some means of measuring the wire gauge
and the space between them. So that was largely a trial and error business.
The two biggest components, or two biggest requirements, were we needed some
headphones and we needed a valve, and I thought that the rest could be
made locally with a bit of luck. On the question of the headpiece an outside
contact smuggled in one headphone, which was better than no headphone,
and a valve - no valve holder but one can't have everything in this
life. |
