Time-series of the local magnetic east-west
component D at Silberborn (52 N, 10 E), Germany,
in the frequency band of 4-16 Hz.
Superimposed on a
weak natural noise background an exponentially
decaying sinusoidal with a frequency of 8 Hz
and 14 Hz can be observed, denoted
Earth-ionosphere cavity
resonances.
Although the source of excitation of this event is
not known,
other discrete events
occur simultanesously
with sprite associated lightning activity.
