Transmission system:

1. 6kHz oscillator CW modulated by relay controlled by QRS software. Fed into BK Electronics 1kW amplifier and through step-up transformer to 220 metre base. Typical current varies between 3 and 4 amps into base.

2. PSK31 generated at any frequency up to 3 kHz by PC fed to same amplifier.

 

Receiving system:

200m base connected via a 47uF audio-grade capacitor to a roughly 1000:1 step-up transformer (made by Isoplethics) and then to the loop input of an LF Engineering Co. L-500B Natural Radio receiver. Laptop computer either displays slow CW using Spectrogram or decodes PSK31.
