1. Warm the Can case of the crystal oscillator with 100W soldering iron!
2. Then,you can see the circlic crystal thin plate mounted on the ground.
3. Make the transistor oscillator with this crystal! Yoy should make the leg of the crystal about 30mm long.
4. While oscillating with this crystal, grip the mount of the crystal with your left hand!
5. Rub the aluminium-vapor-coat on the crystal plate with the sand paper gripped on your right hand! You may rub only one side.
6. Confirm the frequency oftentimes!
7. If the frequency become your wanted number, put it into the case and solder again !
8. If you rub 10% of the vapor coat, you should get 0.1% higher than the original frequency. ( 10kHz higher on 10MHz named crystal) If you rub 30% of the vapor coat, you should get 0.2% higher than the original frequency. ( 20kHz higher on 10MHz named crystal) But then the activity of the crystal become low. You have to choose the circuit in order to oscillate with such a crystal.
9. In Japan we can buy the 7.000 MHz crystal very easy and cheep. With this crystal and this method we you can make 7MHz VXO based CW crystal transmitter.
10. On the end of this page I must say you that " You should use this method only when you have a dosen of same and cheep crystals".
水晶の発振周波数を高い方へ0.1％程度ずらす秘訣。
１． １００Ｗ程度の半田ごてで、水晶のＣＡＮケースを暖めて、ケースをはずす。
２． すると、台座の固定された水晶が出てくる。
３． 水晶発振器をトランジスターで組んで、中身の露出した水晶を使って発振させる。この時、水晶のリード線は３ｃｍ程度に長めにしておく。
４． 水晶を回路につなげて発振させたまま、図のように、左手の中指と親指で台座をつまんで、人差し指で水晶の裏側をおさえる。
５． 右手で、紙やすりを摘まんで水晶の端に当て、水晶の表面の極板蒸着面すなわち水晶板の表面の光るい丸い模様の端っこをこすり落として、極板面積を１割程度減らしてやる。こするのは、片面だけで良い。この際、紙やすりを、水晶板に押し当てる為に、紙やすり自体の弾力性を利用して、押し当て力を制限する。決して紙やすりの接触面を直接裏から押してはいけない。そうするとすぐに水晶が割れてしまう。
６． 周波数をこまめに確認しながら、やすりをかけてゆく。少しずつ、慎重に行う事。
７． 目標の周波数になったら、ケースに戻して、半田で再度蓋をしめる。
８． 蒸着面積の１割程度けずると、0.1％程度高い方へ周波数が動くはずです。0.1％程度の周波数変化なら、ＶＸＯでもコルピッツでもハートレーでもほとんどそのまま発振できる。極板を３割も削ると、周波数は0.2％程度高い方へ動くが、水晶のアクティビティーが下がって、回路によっては発振できなくなる。
９．この実験は、何とか市販の７．０００ＭＨｚの水晶で７ＭＨｚＣＷの電波が発振できないかという事からやってみた実験です。
１０．この実験は、幾つかのクリスタルを「お釈迦」にする覚悟で行ってください。くれぐれも「虎の子」の水晶ではなさらない様にお願いしておきますね。
