Subject: TS50 extended xmit

Original from KA4RKT to MODS@ALLUS

I just got a spanking new Kenwood TS-50S, and boy is it a beauty!
Even fits under the dash of my compact car...

Searching around the local LLBBS's I found a very simple mod for
full transmit from 1.7 - 30 mhz....

Remove the bottom cover of the TS-50

Locate the PLL board -- it is the pc board on top of the main board,
it has a shield on it's right side.

Locate the only non-surface mounted component on the PLL board --
look near the rear left-hand side of the pll board
(front of radio facing you) and remove the very
obvious diode. You can't miss, ther's only one.

Replace cover.

Perform microprocessor reset as described in your manual.

Please -- This mod for use only by persons authorized to use those
frequencies outside of the ham bands - such as MARS, CAP
and such. This radio is not type accepted for commercial
use outside of the ham bands....

Subject: Double Zero

How to put a double zero on TS-50 Frequency Display

First go to B menu and then to 70. Then program in (85) into 70. Then
press F-Lock (ON). Then press down PF4 button on mike and hold . Then
press Split button on radio and hold. Then release PF4 button on mike.
Then release Split button on radio. Then turn F-Lock (OFF). Then go
back to B-Menu to 70 and take out 85 or change the number.

If you wish to remove double zero just go to menu 70 and put 85 then
leave menu and press PF4 and release and the double zero will be gone.

Note: I have tried this and it does work, proceed at your own risk .
