Dbeam (dimension beam) is an simple and easy way to determinate distance to objects. Although the maximum length of measurements should only be about a meter. The sensor measures the amount of reflected IR light, therefore the result depend on the IR absorption of the current object. If precise results is needed, all object in the sensors area should be the same color. It is not possible to operate with more than one Dbeam sensor in the same area, without synchronizing the measure sequence. The IR reciver and transmitter, should be shielded so that the can "see each other". Better measurement could be obtained by placing more IR transmitters. The analoge signal could be conected to the simple analog/digital converter.

Any way it is often not nessesarry to compensate for the ambient light. The "Simple object detector could be used instead."
