Data Acquisition

Using the survey parameters you defined in the previous exercise, you should now generate field observations for interpretation. Fill in the specified parameters in the form shown below, and a data set will be generated for you. If your survey involves multiple soundings, simply use this form to generate data for each sounding. Do not submit the cost of each sounding separately. Submit only the total survey cost and repeat this cost for each sounding. All location parameters must be specified in standard survey coordinates.

All Information is Required to Process Your Data Request

Survey Type: Schlumberger Wenner
Trend of Sounding: North-South East-West
X Coordinate of Sounding Midpoint (m):
Y Coordinate of Sounding Midpoint (m):
Minimum Electrode Spacing (m; AB/2 Schlumberger, L Wenner):
Number of Electrode Spacings per Decade in Electrode Spacing:
Number of Decades in Distance to Collect Data:
Measurements per Electrode Configuration:
Total Survey Bid ($):

Survey Type: Type of electrode configuration to use when acquiring the data. Two choices are possible: Schlumberger or Wenner configurations.

X Coordinate of Sounding Midpoint: Indicates the east-west position within the survey area of the center of the DC sounding.

Y Coordinate of the Sounding Midpoint: Indicates the north-south position within the survey area of the center of the DC sounding.

Minimum Electrode Spacing (AB/2 for Schlumberger, L for Wenner): Specify the minimum electrode spacing to be using in acquiring the data in meters. The exact spacing specified depends on the Survey type chosen above. If a Schlumberger survey is selected, the distance AB/2 represents the distance from the survey midpoint to one of the current electrodes. If a Wenner array is selected, the distance L represents the spacing between each of the electrodes used.

Number of Soundings per Decade in Electrode Spacing: This parameter specifies the number of current electrode positions at which to collect data per decade (factor of 10) change in electrode distance. This must be an integer.

Number of Decades in Electrode Distance Over Which to Collect Soundings: This parameter specifies the number of decades in electrode distance over which to collect data. This must also be an integer. If your survey extends beyond the site boundaries, readings will only be returned for those electrode configurations contained within the field area.

As a simple example, if you were to choose the minimum electrode spacing to equal 0.25 m, the number of soundings per decade in electrode spacing to equal 10, and the number of decades in electrode distance over which to collect soundings to equal 3, a survey would be returned to you that incorporates electrode spacings of

0.25,0.5,0.75.1.0,1.25,1.5,1.75,2.0,2.25,2.5,5.0,7.5,10.0,12.5,15.0,17.5,20.0,22.5,25.0,50.0,75.0,100.0,125.0,150.0,175.0,200.0,225.0, and 250.0.

Measurements per Electrode Configuration: Number of voltage readings taken at each electrode position. Reported apparent resistivity will represent the average of the readings taken. Multiple readings per station can be used to reduce the level of random noise associated with each measurement. Total Survey Bid: Your bid for completing the survey as defined in the Request For Bid.
