I found it was better to stuff the LEDs on the display board, but leave them UNSOLDERED until the board was fitted into the enclosure, ( with all LEDs "mated up" with their corresponding holes ) and the board is secured with screws... the LEDs are not very flexible once they are soldered in place, and if the hole pattern does not "match up" very well, it can be a pain installing the board.
